It’s been all systems go at Redborne Community College today with a team of volunteers helping the organisers to get everything ready for Saturday. We thought you might like a sneaky peak behind the scenes to give you an idea of exactly what goes on in the run up to a fibre festival.
The marquees were all put up earlier in the week, so the first job is to measure and mark them out using spray paint (outside) or masking tape (inside) so that the vendors can easily find their space to get set up. Vendors can choose to hire tables from us if they wish, in which case, the appropriate number of tables gets left ready.
Many hands make light work of shifting the tables – here’s Angela, Abbi, Ali and Jenny on the case with the tables. The trolley had a mind of its own!
Hooray, the catering team have arrived, so there will be plenty of delicious refreshments for you at the weekend.
Lunch break – time to enjoy a well earned cup of tea in our special Fibre-East mugs. And the best bit is, we get to keep them afterwards! Squee!
We’ve had sunshine and showers today – I took shelter in a marquee briefly! (The ‘zero’ tells us that this vendor doesn’t need any tables.) Now I think we’ve had enough rain thank you very much. I’m putting in an order for sunshine at the weekend so make sure you bring your sunglasses and sun cream!
This afternoon, we made a start on the bunting. There is rather a lot of it, thanks to a huge number of people who came together to knit/crochet/felt it for us a few years ago. It’s lovely to bring it out each year. I wonder if you made some? If so, perhaps you’ll spot yours!
The sheepy signs are stacked ready for labelling the marquees tomorrow.
The brochures have been printed and are ready to hand out to you when you arrive.
Make sure that you come to the South School entrance – look out for the bunting and the 2 signs that will mark the entrance. The North School entrance won’t be open! Don’t forget, if you purchased advance tickets online, all you need to do is bring along your Paypal receipt and go through the ‘advance tickets’ door.
And it gets even more exciting tomorrow – the vendors arrive! So who’s coming? Please leave us a message as we’d love to hear from you!
